Ridgewater College's Vision:

 

"Ridgewater College will be recognized as an educational leader that exemplifies innovation and excellence within a student-centered learning environment. The Office of Institutional Research drives continuous improvement in decision-making, planning, policy formulation and fulfillment of this vision. It does so by gathering, analyzing and disseminating information on a variety of research projects. This might involve conducting a biotechnology program feasibility study of businesses, concerning graduate employment opportunities and desired employee skills. It might involve  gathering information for a cutting edge Mobile Simulation Laboratory grant proposal. Or it might involve measuring the student satisfaction of programs and services. Regardless of the particular project or initiative, our ultimate goal is the success of learners in our continuously changing, culturally diverse world."

The Measuring Effectiveness section examines how Ridgewater College collects, analyzes, and uses information to manage itself and to drive performance improvement. There are literally hundreds of mechanisms used to assess whether or not the College is doing what it has set out to do. This section first addresses the formal means of collecting, storing, and accessing data. It then goes on to illustrate several examples in which Ridgewater College has used data to assess a particular situation in order to move forward in the decision-making process.
